William Marcus McNally Jr. was born on March, 14,1922 to William Marcus McNally and Helena Bekker in Fillmore, CA. He was known to his family and friends as "Uncle Bill." He served his country proudly as a Private First Class in the United States Marine Corps. His service included sea duty at the Southwest Pacific from July 1, 1942 to November, 20 1943, Central Pacific from November 20, 1943 to December 28, 1943, and Atlantic from March 14, 1945 to September 15, 1945. He also participated in action against the enemy at Guadalcanal and Tarawa. Mr. McNally was qualifed as a rifle marksman and heavy machine gun crewman. He was awarded a Purple Heart, Honorable Service Lapel Button, and U.S. Marine Corps Honorable Discharge Button. After leaving the Marine Corps, William McNally began working in the automotive industry repairing damaged and wrecked cars. He retired after 35 years. William Marcus McNally Jr. leaves behind his loving wife, Clara McNally, his children, and many grandchildren. He is missed dearly by his family and friends. On Saturday, December 3, 2011, he was laid to rest in the Garden of Angels at Joshua Tree Memorial Park. The graveside service included military honors provided by the Marine Corps and the American Legion. Pastor Roger Mayes officiated.
