Obituary

William M. Bogash, a member of the Roller Derby Hall of Fame and owner of two restaurants, including the Copper Room in Yucca Valley, died March 20, 2009, at Hi-Desert Medical Center. He was 92 years old. The son of Richard Bogash and Josephine Duda Bogash, he was born in Chicago, Ill., Nov. 22, 1916. He lived in California 55 years and in the Morongo Basin 19 years. Mr. Bogash is survived by his wife of 50 years, Georgia Bogash of Yucca Valley; son William R. Bogash of Frazier Park; daughter Sharon Guccione of Palm Desert; son Scott Bogash of Los Angeles; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He owned the Los Angeles restaurant Sanborn House for 27 years and the Copper Room in Yucca Valley. The Roller Derby Hall of Fame member was a professional Roller Derby skater from 1935 to 1958. He enjoyed dancing at the Summer Music Festival series. A private viewing will be held 2 to 4 p.m. March 25 at Wiefels and Son. Interment will be in Chicago.
