A funeral service has been scheduled for Wesley Shamblin, 38, of Bakersfield, for Saturday, April 26 at 10 am at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter, with interment following at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday, April 25, from **-**pm. Wesley passed away April 23, 2008, in Bakersfield. Wesley James Shamblin was born Wesley James Baggett on August 26, 1969 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He is survived by his father, Stanley Frederick Baggett; adoptive father, Steven Stanley Shamblin; mother, Sherry Ann (Patterson) Shamblin; brother, Steven Lee Shamblin; daughters, Brittney Lynn and Lacey Lynn Shamblin; grandmother, Helen Baggett; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, one nephew, and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Elmo and Lorene Patterson, Richard Baggett, Ralph Shamblin, Norma Shamblin (Ogden) and Gene Ogden. Wesley attended Bakersfield schools, including West High School and also Shafter High School. He was a charming, charismatic man who easily befriended many people. He lived his life at his own pace, in his own way. He worked in the oil fields, gardening and in construction maintenance. He loved riding on his motorcycle and creating unusual milkshakes. He will be missed by family and his many special friends.
