Wesley Scott Asbenson was born on January 07, 1947 to Luverne and Beulah (Scott) Asbenson at home in rural Storla, SD. Wes attended Mt. Vernon High School for his junior years and Augustana Academy in Canton, SD for the other years, graduating from the Academy in 1965. Following high school, Wesley went to auto body school at Greer Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois. In Oct. 1966 he was drafted to the United States Army, and served in White Sands NM and in Viet Nam as military police, completing his tour of duty in Oct. 1968. Wesley married Alice Bacon on August 21, 1970 in Valley Stream, NY. They made their homes in La Quinta, Desert Hot Springs, and then in 1978 he began work on their dome house in Morongo Valley, CA. They have 4 children. Gina, Jennifer, Jason, and Janna. Wes, Alice, & Jason were involved in and enjoyed a Prospectors Club for many years. Most of his life he worked at Hoffman Motors in Palm Springs as a body repair man. Alice died on December 2, 2007 in Palm Springs, CA from cancer. In 2015 Wes was able to fulfill a dream by going to a camp in Alaska to prospect for gold. He returned from this trip, by way of Sioux Falls, SD to attend his 50th class reunion from Augustana Academy. He died at the VA hospital in Prescott, AZ on December 6, 2017. He leaves to mourn his passing: his 4 children, their spouses and significant others, 6 grandchildren, 4 brothers and 2 sisters and their families, a mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and their spouses. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one brother, and his father-in-law.
