Wanda
Handel
Apr 20, 1944 — Jul 15, 2026
Wanda “Harris” Handel was born on April 20th, 1944, in McFarland, California. Wanda went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 15th, 2026. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.
Wanda grew up in Wasco, California, where she attended Wasco schools. Wanda was a devoted wife, mom, grammie, aunt, sister, and friend whose love for her family was evident in everything she did.
She was a retail therapy enthusiast, had a passion for decorating, and loved traveling with her husband, Kenny. She also liked the bling and lights of Las Vegas. She had a special fondness for all things shiny and sparkly. She loved entertaining family and friends, getting lost in a good book, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Wanda was also a dedicated supporter of the Shafter Junior Miss Pageant program, where she proudly sponsored many young women over the years.
Wanda loved church. She loved attending The Freewill Baptist Church, where Pastor Gary and the church family welcomed her with open arms. She loved learning about the Lord and reading her Bible.
If you knew Wanda, she always had a smile on her face and enjoyed visiting with people. She was most proud when she brought her only daughter, Lisa, home from the hospital and has been a loving and dedicated mom.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Kenny Handel, her parents Elmer and Lillie Harris, sister Pat Moore, brother Kenny Harris, and nephew Kenneth “Pete” Harris.
Wanda is survived by her daughter Lisa McGuire, sister Barbara Colbert, sister-in-law Kathy Harris, brother-in-law Glenn Handel (Beverly), grandchildren Christopher Handel (Marina), Lindsee Handel, Kyle Cooper (Lana) and Garrett Cooper, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and members of the Handel family. She will be missed by all who loved her.
The family would like to thank Hoffman Hospice for their care and compassion. The family would also like to thank Josie and Selina Salazar for the love and care they provided.
Graveside services will be held for Wanda Handel at the Shafter Memorial Cemetery on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. In honor of Wanda, feel free to wear anything bling or sparkly.
