Obituary

Wallace Owen Weishaar Sr, 78, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, in Shafter, California. Born on August 11, 1947, to Hollis Justin and Virginia Lee Weishaar. Wallace, who was affectionately known as Wally, Wallaferd, Weisenheimer, etc. was a beacon of friendship and generosity throughout his life.

Wally grew up attending Shafter SDA for his primary education and later graduated from Thunderbird Adventist Academy in Scottsdale AZ. After High School, Wally and Noni Mock married, Wallace Jr arrived and they were a happy little family residing at Dale's Trailer Park in Rubidoux Ca. Wally was a machinist at Ace Drill Bushings while Noni pursued her dream of a degree in nursing. Wally and Wally Jr spent their free time cruising around the local area, procuring performance parts to hop up his 1965 Mustang. I believe this was truly the happiest time of his life. Wally never intended to become a farmer but was conscripted into returning to the family business in 1967, when His father Justin's health began failing. This led to a career of tending the land, the animals and the people that surrounded his life. The passion he developed for growing cotton when he took over the ranch after Justin passed in 1975 led him to a fulfilling career managing Weishaar Ranch LLC until his "retirement" in 2005. Along the way he mentored many young farmers, made lifelong friends and lived life to the fullest. Wally 's reluctant return to agriculture came as the fulfillment of a promise he made to his father to keep the ranch alive, which he did.

Known for his love of practical jokes, Wally brought laughter and joy to many. His hobbies included moving his sister Ilona from one end of California to the other, repeatedly. Taking the opportunity to farm for others when a situation left them unable to do so. Tending to the yardwork for others who couldn't or simply wouldn't do so themselves. Day trips with Dan Toews from the rest home when his time got small. Shooting the breeze with Jesse Escobedo up at Hitchcock's and road trips with Wally Jr. Always seizing opportunities to help others through his kindness and generous spirit while savoring the moments when he could escape from the farm, even if just for an afternoon. Wally also cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who filled his later years with immense joy and a few bent bumpers.

Wally is survived by his sons, Wallace Jr. and his wife Janie, Walter and his wife Andrea; grandchildren, Alexis, Owen, and Zach; and great-grandsons, Harrison and Emmett along with countless friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Ilona.

A graveside service at the Shafter Memorial Park will be held on May 29th beginning at 9AM with a lunch gathering to follow honoring Wally's legacy of love, friendship, and support. His life was a testament to the power of giving, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
