Obituary

Wallace Koop, 88, of Visalia entered this world on February 28, 1926. Growing up in a big family in Hillsboro, Kansas, Wally came to appreciate the value of hard work and service to others. For 61 years beginning in 1947, Wally treasured his marriage to Bertha. Together they moved to Shafter in 1956 where they watched their children Ron and Sandy grow up. Wally was a salesman. He sold building materials, car parts, wholesale electrical and plumbing supplies, sporting equipment and even, as a side job, World Book Encyclopedias. After moving to Visalia in 1971, he eventually enjoyed having his own business, Valley Electrical Suppliers. Wally could fix and build almost anything. During retirement, Wally and Bertha volunteered with several churches on building projects up and down the West Coast. Wally certainly had a servant's heart. He used the skills God gave him generously and without fanfare. His family, friends, and church could always call on Wally when they needed an extra hand. Wally cherished his family dearly. He is preceded in death by his wife Bertha and daughter Sandy. He is survived by Ron and Susan Koop, his son-in-law Ted Wiedmann, his five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Wally joined Bertha and Sandy in Heaven on October 28, 2014. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at 10am at the Shafter Memorial Park.
