Wade J. Hamilton was born February 19, 1925 in Wasco, California to Elza & Faye (Sexton) Hamilton. He was a life-long resident of Shafter, attending Shafter elementary schools and graduating from Shafter High School with the Class of 1943. He served his country during World War II in the US Army, attaining the rank of T-5 and being deployed in the Saipan-Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged December 24 1945. He married Dorothy Louise Rogers Gaede and she passed away May 9, 1977. Wade and Linda Evans were married January 20 1996 in Wasco. Wade was owner of Hamilton Land Leveling and Shafter Laser for 31 years. He enjoyed traveling; fishing expeditions and cruise ships being his favorite trips. During the early 1970's, Wade enjoyed Harness Racing in Shafter. He owned horses as a hobby and loved hosting the post race parties. He was a member of the Wasco-Delano Masonic Lodge, Bakersfield Scottish Rite, Wasco-Shafter Elks Lodge and Al Malaikah Shriners of Los Angeles. He loved getting together with family and friends for dinners and barbecues. Wade was a grandfather who was also great. He enjoyed taking the grandkids to school and spending time with them. "Grandpa Wade" will be missed and was dearly loved. Surviving family include his wife of 11 years, Linda Hamilton of Shafter; sister, Irene Ellebracht and husband Archie of Tulare; brother, Larry Hamilton & wife Denise of Arizona; sons, Denton Hamilton and wife Diana, Mark Hamilton and wife Laurie, Chuck Hamilton and wife Bonnie, Kenny Foster and wife Gail, Eddie Gaede & wife Joann; daughter, Karen Lopeteguy; step-children, Charles Barnes & wife Donna, Kassandra Wernhart & husband Hanes, Vanessa Perry, and Renae Myers; and many loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at Peters Funeral Home Monday, March 05, 2007 at 2pm, for Wade J. Hamilton, age 82, of Shafter, who passed away March 3, 2007 in Bakersfield. Pastor Terry Danielson of Sovereign Grace Church officiated the service and interment followed at Shafter Memorial Park.
