IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Kathleen
Losey
October 12, 1918 – September 7, 2010
Virginia Kathleen Losey passed away peacefully on September 7th at the age of 91. She was born Oct. 12th, 1918 on her grandmother's kitchen table in Rock Falls, Illinois and moved to Southern California in 1928. She came to Tehachapi nearly 40 years ago with her husband, Cornealius Losey, whom she married on her 18th birthday, Oct. 12, 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband and also her daughter Kathleen Weeks. Virginia is survived by her son Cornealius Losey, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and the many people that knew her as "Grammie." Virginia was a nurturing person that besides raising her own children, had a hand in raising her brothers, grandchildren and many neighborhood kids. She loved to travel by car, plane, train, or boat with her family, with her beloved husband Neal or even on her own, striking out many times by herself in her motorhome. She was always asking where and when the next trip would be. She loved adventure and even rafted down the Mendenhall River in Alaska with her grandchildren at the age of 85. Her motto was, "You've got to LIVE 'til you die." Her love for her family was tireless, as was her shining spirit and generosity. She was a strong supporter of the Red Cross with years of donating blood, even faking her weight when they said she had gotten too light to give (shhh, don't tell anyone.) She loved to knit and more than a few people in Tehachapi have received a handmade treasure from her. She was known as a great friend and kept childhood friends close throughout her long life.Virginia had a beautiful heart and was quick to make friends, frequently chatting up strangers she had just met. Of course, that didn't preclude her from chasing a few people from her Cummings Valley Ranch with her shotgun, including an escaped convict! Not afraid of hard work, Virginia worked in garment factories, cattle ranches, plumbing businesses and even mined for gold in the Mojave desert. She loved simple things like tea, M&M's, birdwatching, interesting shells at the beach, Bob Wills' music and hot dogs. The smallest, silliest gift from a loved one brought her immense joy. Her life cannot be summed up in a few words, nor should it be. If you would like to share memories of this glorious soul, please join her family in celebrating her life at Tehachapi Cemetary East on Saturday September 25th at 10:00 a.m. with wake following at Mtn Bible church, 630 Maple Street. Her family would also like to thank the staff at Tehachapi Hospital for their kind and loving care. Arvin Funeral Home
