Memorial service for Virginia K Busby, age 87 of Shafter, will be on May 8, 2020 at 2pm at Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Shafter. Virginia passed away on Tuesday, Mar 17, 2020 at Golden Living Center in Shafter. She was born on February 15, 1933 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Earl and Elsie Burch. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie Butler and husband Darold of Bakersfield, Cathy Patty of Bakersfield, California, Carolyn Hogan of Gainsville, Texas, and Charlotte Fluellen of Richardson, Texas; her sisters, Louise Jensen of Stephenville, Texas, and Merlene Riggs of Kingston, Oklahoma; a brother, Kenneth Burch of Colorado; 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her loving parents, Earl Ray Burch and Elsie Lorene (Castleman) Burch; her loving husband, Melvin Lesley Busby; sister, Betty Willie of Georgetown, Texas; brothers, Ray Burch and Glen Burch; her children, Jenny Hixon, Lougene Hudson, Melba Hughes, Rodney Busby; and grandchildren, Jessica Patty and Brandon Nipper. Virginia was an avid member of The Church of Christ. She loved getting together with family, always singing, playing cards, and playing dominos. She excelled in cosmetology, business ownership, The V & L Café in Kingsland, Texas, and Gin's Restaurant in Saint Jo, Texas. However she especially loved being a home maker. Family reunions were her favorite times as the family was all together playing instruments and singing. She also enjoyed sewing and making quilts for her grandbabies.
