Virgil "Gunny B" Bethurum started his life Nov. 22, 1923, in Westminster, Colorado, and joined his father in Christ on May 29, 2017. He passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his wife, Sonja Bethurum after 42 years of faithful marriage, his daughter, Cathy Priester, his sons, Daniel Bethurum, Ron Bethurum, Michael McGowan, his daughter, Sandy Rayburn, and joining his daughter Susan McGowan. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was also faithful to his country, serving 23 years in the Marine Corps with a deployment in World War II and two deployments in Vietnam. After retiring, he took on the role of school bus driver for 23 years, being affectionately and well known as "Mr. B." In his retirement days, he enjoyed being a private bus driver for the family, time with his wife and hugs from grand and great-grandchildren, cooking crepes and going to church on Sundays, and his favorite pastime of long naps.
