Vernon David Lee "Shorty", at the age of 58, passed from this life to live in Heaven on 04/23/2021, in Bakersfield, California. Shorty was born July 08, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Carolyn Doles Lee, his mother and Father Elmer Lee. He grew up in Shafter, California and attended the local schools. In his adult life, Shorty worked in the oil fields and ran a backhoe and other heavy equipment. He also loved cars and was always working on one. Shorty's love of the guitar gave him a lot of pleasure in his life. His favorite song to play on the guitar was "Catch Scratch Fever, by Ted Nugent." It never mattered how troubled his life may have been, he always had a beautiful smile on his face. He loved his family very much and no matter what the issue may be, he would be there for any one of us, no questions asked, at the drop of a hat. For all of us that love Shorty, life will always have a piece of our hearts missing. He will forever be deeply missed by his friends and family, as there is only ONE Shorty. Vernon "Shorty" Lee had no siblings and was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Doles LaRue, His Grandmother Altie Cook and Grandfather Ed Cook. He is survived by his Aunt, Janie Colbert of Shafter, Ca, Shirley Klein and husband Marlow of Bakersfield, Ca. He is also survived by many cousins Glenda Pitcairn and husband Michael, of Bakersfield, CA, Mona Sturgeon and husband Rick, of Cabot, AR, Donna Gray of Bakersfield, Ca, Raymond Ferrell Jr. of Arkansas, Teresa Dawson of Bakersfield, Ca, Christina Colbert of Shafter, Ca. Starla Schumaker, of Nevada. Shorty is also survived by many great cousins, Baretta Williams, Mandy Walpole and husband Harry, Joshua Williams, Jillian Searcy, Melissa Vine, Shanda Gray, Anthony Johnson, Brittany Ferrell, Raymond Ferrell, Stephanie Anderson, Steven Dawson, Shalene Duckett, Anthony Cricchio, Ashley Hopkins, Christopher Lopez, Eddie Nichols and wife Jennifer, Jamie Colbert and husband Jason , Daniel Epps and wife Rachel and many more great great cousins and a multitude of friends. Shorty is loved by all and will live forever in our hearts.
