Verna Dell Parks departed from this world on September 1, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born on August 30, 1934, in the small town of Abo, New Mexico. She passed away peacefully in Bakersfield, California, leaving behind a family that adored her. Verna was a devoted wife to her husband LD and a loving mother to her daughters, Teresa Acha (John), Linda Little (Mark), Karen Parker (Dennis), and Kim Perry. She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren and her 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by LD, her husband of 55 years, her daughter Karen, her parents Tom & Leoma Gallagher, and her siblings Fay Bunyard and Tom Gallagher. She is survived by her siblings, Desi Hudson, Gerald Gallagher and Paulette Jones. Verna worked many years in the retail clothing business. She was an active and beloved member of her church. Verna lived her life as a testament to the love and teachings of the Lord. Verna enjoyed sewing clothes for her family and quilting with her mother. Their quilts were cherished by family and friends. She also was a great cake decorator and loved making cakes especially for weddings and special occasions. Verna and LD spent many years traveling in their RV with friends and family and always came back with lots of fun stories! Verna's most profound gift was her selfless caregiving. Verna's acts of love touched the lives of many.

A funeral service to celebrate Verna's life will be held at a date and time to be announced. Verna's life reminds us all that it is not the years in our life that count, but the life in our years. Her ninety years were rich with life, filled with the joy of giving and faith. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her spirit will forever be remembered by the lives she touched. Verna, our mom, was truly one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice and Spruce Gardens for the wonderful care they gave to our mom.
