Verla was born in Wasco, California on May 19, 1942 to Charles Alton and Mattie Elizabeth (Black) Frost. Verla was raised in the Shafter area and attend local school she graduated from Shafter High in 1960. She married her husband Ronald Nunlist on March 21, 1959 at the Shafter Church of Christ. Verla and Ron raised their three children in Shafter while she worked for the local school district for 23 years. Verla loved to travel. The family crossed the states in many car trips. She enjoyed going to Ron's military reunions and visiting with many friends. They enjoyed taking cruises and flew to Germany to visit their son while he was in the Army. Verla was devoted to the Lord. Her pastime was spending time with her family grandchildren and great-granddaughter who she was so proud of. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Verla was 73 years old when she passed away on June 1, 2015 in Bakersfield, California She is survived by her husband Ron; son Ron Loren (Crete) Nunlist; daughter Beth (Rick) Rumbo; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her sister Glenda Kuik; brother Elden Frost and daughter Rhonda Khamneli. A Funeral service will be held at Church of Christ in Shafter on Saturday June 6, 2015 at 10am. Visitation will be held on Friday June 5, 2015 at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter from 2-8pm.
