Vera Gorham was born March 3, 1937 in Fort Scott, Kansas to John LaRue and Grace Smith. She was the oldest of three children; following is brother, James LaRue and sister, Betty Dawn Dondero. Vera was a devoted Elvis Presley fan. She met the love of her life, John, on a bus tour to Las Vegas. It was love at first sight for the young couple. Vera and her beloved husband John shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. She was loving stepmother to their children; Nancy Gorham, John Gorham Jr., and Renee Gorham. After some time, the family decided to move from Los Angeles to Lamont. The Gorham Family has called Lamont home for over 30 years now. They have been members of Lamont's Assembly of God's Church for the past 5 years. Vera enjoyed singing Amazing Grace and had been faithful in attendance. The lord called Vera to her heavenly reward on November 27, 2015. We who knew and love her will miss Vera deeply. She had a unique character that will never be forgotten. Until we met again, may the lord keep you; goodbye from your family and friends. The family would like to thank the Bakersfield Rehabilitation Center for their services in caring for Vera in her time of need. A Graveside service will be officiated by Pastor Fred at Bakersfield National Cemetery on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10:45am followed by a reception at Lamont's Assembly of God's church, 8300 Collison St, Lamont, CA 93241, at 12:00pm.
