Velma Mulligan passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 21. She went to heaven surrounded by the family she loved so much. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were all with her on the final days, which is just what she would have wanted. Velma was preceded in death six years ago by her loving husband John Mulligan. Velma was born in Selma California, and later moved to Delano where she and John raised their children and were co-owners of Mulligan Furniture Store. She was an extraordinary mother who loved her children and provided a warm nest for her family. She was a great athlete, cook, gardener, and friend to so many. Velma is survived by her four children, Tim Mulligan, Kathy Lindberg, Pat Mulligan, and Mike Mulligan; as well as 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A memorial service was held at 11am on Saturday, February 27, 2016 in the garden of Mike and Susan Mulligan, 17647 Wasco Avenue, Shafter.
