Velma Leola Lee passed away January 20, 2010 at Westchester Gardens, Bakersfield. She was the daughter of James and Minnie Wilkenson; born August 7, 1911 in Steven City, Texas. She married George M. Lee, November 19, 1945 in Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, where she worked and George served during World War II. They moved to Wasco in 1948 and Velma worked at McCafferty's Cleaners, Shirmers Clothing Store, Spuds, which later became Lakewood's and where she retired. All of Velma's siblings have passed away. She is survived by her husband, George and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 25, at 10am at Peters Funeral Home for Velma Leola Lee, age, 98, of Wasco. Pastor Jack Stewart will officiate the services and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 24, at Peters Funeral Home from 2pm to 8pm.
