Obituary

Tildon Wayne Ketcherside was born on February 29, 1940 in Russellville, Arkansas and returned home to the Lord on July 24, 2013. Wayne's family moved to Porterville, California in 1946 where Wayne attended the local grammar school and high school. Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957 and was honorably discharged July 10, 1961 from the USS Lexington. Wayne was involved in many different sports. He raced at Bakersfield Speedway; he was also the flagman at Bakersfield Speedway and Mesa Marin Raceway for several years. Wayne was also deeply involved in team penning and won many saddles and belt buckles competing all over California and Nevada. Wayne started his own business in 1973 called Wayne's Pump Service. He eventually moved to the Wasco area and purchased Carter Pump and Machine in 1987. He and his wife Pat ran the business for 20 years until they sold it in 2007 and retired to the Two-Bit Ranch, their house in the country. Wayne was involved in many organizations giving his time freely and abundantly. He was a member of the Kern County Law Enforcement Foundation receiving their lifetime achievement award and the Wayne Ketcherside Humanitarian Award. He was a member of the Kern County Sheriff's Mounted Search and Rescue, also the Kern County Sheriffs Posse, serving as the Lieutenant and Captain of both organizations. He was a long-standing member of the Wasco Chamber of Commerce, serving as President many times. He was a member of Wasco Rotary Club and of the Wasco Elks Club. Wayne and Pat were Grand Marshall's for last year's Wasco Rose Festival. Wayne was also a big supporter of Wasco youth giving to the 4-H, the FFA, Wasco High School Football, and the Wasco Community Scholarship Association. He was preceded in death by his parent's Tildon Fowler & Viola Mae Ketcherside & two sister's Jessie Magriff, & Mary Durrett, also a brother Homer Ketcherside. He is survived by his very caring wife of many years Pat Ketcherside and their six kids. Kim & wife Sonyia Ketcherside of Emmett, Idaho, Mike & wife Luann Ketcherside of Paso Robles, Sherri Ketcherside of Paso Robles, David & wife Donna Ward of Wasco, & Deanne & husband Rick Atsma of Iowa, and Danny Ward of Taft. Grandkids are Dusty & Nikki Ketcherside of Arkansas, Brena & husband Eric Fountain of Arkansas, Shawn & wife Brandy Marquez of Emmett, Idaho, Erica Ward & Brandon Ward of Wasco, Tavis, John & Jarrett Atsma of Iowa, Manny Harbin & Jake Ketcherside of Paso Robles. Great Grandkids are Jordyn & Courtney Marquez, Jarret Fopuntain, and Kaleb Ketcherside. He is also survived by sisters Carol Hamlin & husband Pierce, Lottie Aherns, brother Bruce & wife Esther Ketcherside all of Bakersfield; mother-in-law, Wanetta Nyston, sister-in-law, Kay Cameron & husband Ron all of Kingsburg. Love to all nephews, nieces & etc. There are too many to try and list but you all know that you are special to me in your own way (Love), GOD BLESS YOU ALLL!!!!!!!!!!!
