Funeral Services for Thomas Roy Wilson are scheduled for Tuesday, February 10th, 11:30 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 4901 California Ave., Bakersfield. A private interment will be held Wednesday, February 11th at the National Cemetery in Arvin, CA. Tom Wilson (Tommy), age 63, passed away after a tough battle with cancer on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Tom passed away at San Joaquin Hospital in Bakersfield, CA, with his wife Christy and daughter Amber by his side. Tom was born May 27, 1951 in Hutchinson, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Wilson, and his sister Patricia Henry. Tom is survived by his wife Christy, his daughter Amber Appleton and husband Kyle, his father Thomas H. Wilson and wife Sandra, his stepsons David Aitken, Blake Garrett and Hunter Garrett, in-laws Jim and Monica Rines as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Tom worked in the oil field industry for over 40 years and retired as an Oil Consultant in November of 2012. He identified with the Merle Haggard song, "Working Man Blues," because he was dedicated to a life of working hard. Tom definitely had a love for fast cars. He satisfied his need for speed in his 1969 SS Camaro Convertible. In May 2013, he participated in the Morro Bay Car Show as well as local car shows. Tom also enjoyed meeting with other car enthusiasts at Sonic and Chuy's as often as his health permitted. In his final months he enjoyed many trips to Pismo Beach with his wife and in-laws. In his younger years, Tom attended First Assembly of God Church where he exhibited his love and talent for music inherited from his mom and dad. His singing talent was also passed to his daughter Amber and one of his greatest joys in life was watching his daughter and son-in-law perform with their band at the Crystal Palace. Tom cherished his wife Christy, he referred to as "My Squeeze" and adored his gorgeous daughter Amber (Lambert). He loved to tell jokes and watch people laugh as he joined in on the laughter. He was a one of a kind man with a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Toms family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nursing staff at San Joaquin Hospital for their care and support through his last days and Kaiser Oncology who were phenomenal during his treatments. A special thank you to Sandy of Optimal for her weekly visits which provided great love and comfort.
