Thomas "Ronnie" Harmon was born January 12, 1937, in Lindsay, Ca, to Thomas and Bessie Harmon. He graduated from Taft High School Class of 1955; and continued his education at Berkley College obtaining a Business Degree in General Management – Ownership and Management. Ronnie married Paula Thompson on October 22, 1955, in Los Angeles. The couple moved to Shafter in 1969, and Ronnie was employed by Wasco Holly Chevrolet for 1 year; and then for Richland Chevrolet until his retirement in 1999, ending a 30 year employment history with Richland. Ronnie was a member of the "Only the Best Club" for service managers; and he was also the West Coast District President for many years, and the only person to hold the title for 3 years in a row. Ronnie enjoyed woodworking and was known for making children's toys. He loved flying and had his pilot license. He enjoyed photography, fishing, camping, the mountains, and was an excellent open fire chef. He was also known as the "Puzzle Man". Ronnie was a member of the 3 B's and the 20/30 Club. Ronnie was preceded by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Paula of Shafter; sons, Lonnie of Shafter, and Rodney and wife, Rhonda of Bakersfield; daughter, DeEdra Wheeler of Shafter; brother, Leon of Oregon; 9 grandchildren, Lacie, Kylee, Kenin, and Loni Jo, Lindsey, Candice, Brittney, Terry and Willie; and many other loving nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will be held at Shafter Memorial Park on Thursday, February 21, 2008, at 10am, for Thomas "Ronnie" Harmon, age 71, of Shafter, who passed away February 16, 2008, in Shafter. Garry McCaslin and Darrel Perry will officiate the service and interment will follow. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, from 2 to 8pm.
