Thomas Cain Jr. was born December 16, 1924 in Cordell, Oklahoma to Thomas and Lona Belle (Buckmaster) Cain. He came to Arvin in 1928 at age four then moved to Lamont in 1954. Thomas served in the Army in WWII from 1943 to 1945. He was the owner of Border's Ambulance Service. For many years Thomas cowboyed for different valley ranches. He drove a truck for Mashburn trucking company. Thomas loved his horses and his music. Thomas is survived by three sons, Thomas and wife Barbara Cain, Mike and wife Terry Cain, Tony and wife Karen Cain; two daughters, Sherin Bates and Shannon and husband Rick Grove; two step children; three sisters, Mildred Folkerson, Margaret Johnson, and JoAnn Lacertoso; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. There will be a graveside service under the direction of Arvin Funeral Home held at South Kern Cemetery District on Thursday, February 7, at 11am for Thomas Cain Jr., age 83, of Fellows, Ca. who passed away February 2, in Mount Mesa, Ca. Reverand Steve Yeary of Brimhall Road Assembly of God will officiate the service and interment will follow.
