Teodora (Gallegos) Munoz was born March 26, 1921 in Jalisco, Mexico to Hilarion and Francisca (Lozano) Gallegos. Teodora worked hard to raise 2 daughters, Enedina and Maria Elena, as a single mother in Mexico and came to California in 1956 to better provide for them. She worked for 33 years in agriculture. In 1970 Teodora married Guadalupe Munoz and they had another daughter, Patricia. Teodora loved to talk about her life and tell the stories of her childhood. She also enjoyed reading, knitting and crafts. Guadalupe passed away July 28, 2001 after 31 years of marriage; Teodora was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Luis and Felix; 1 sister, Chona; and 1 grandchild. Teodora is survived by her daughters, Enedina Gonzalez and her husband Oliver of Shafter, Maria Elena Elias of Shafter and Patricia Perales and her husband Roman of Bakersfield; sisters, Pasquala Gallegos of El Paso, Texas and Carlota Perales of Bakersfield; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; step-children, Beatriz, Erlinda, Carolina, Mario, Evonne and their children and grandchildren. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 6:30pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 15, at 10am at St. Therese's Church. Fr. Pedro Umana will officiate and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday, February 14, from 2pm – 8pm.
