Sylvia Octavia Boyett was born January 27, 1918, to Henry David and Allie Boyett. She grew up in Maumelle Township, Arkansas. Sylvia married Arnold "Jackson" Gentry March 9, 1935 in Bigelow, Arkansas. They had four children, Leona, Arnold, Dannie, and Gail. They lived in; Arkansas, Chowchilla, Atascadero, Wasco, and San Francisco; But Wasco is where Sylvia called home. She was a successful homemaker throughout her life, as well as business partner with her husband, Jack, keeping all running efficiently and lovingly nurtured. She attended Griffith Avenue Baptist Church for almost 29 years. She enjoyed reading her Bible, playing hymns on the piano, writing poetry and short stories, gardening, traveling with AARP, the Golden Age Club, going to the coast and spending time with her family. She spent the last couple of years in the great care of her youngest daughter Gail and her husband John, in their home. Her children Leona and Dannie were frequent visitors and wonderful caregivers, alternating time to care for and spend precious time with their mother. She is preceded in death by Her husband Arnold "Jack" Gentry, parents Henry David "Did" and Allie (Oneal) Boyett, brothers, Verman "Rusty" Boyett and Orville Boyett and her son Arnold Gentry. She is survived by Her brother Freemen and wife Jo Boyett of Lodi, CA. Her Children: daughters Leona and husband Kenneth Duncan of Wasco, CA. Gail and husband John McElwain of Inyokern, CA. and son Dannie Gentry of Atascadero, CA. Her Grandchildren: Wes and wife Deb Duncan of Bakersfield, CA. Debbie Jones of Wasco, CA. Kelly Duncan of Fresno, CA. Leslie and husband John Lindbow of, Carmichael, CA. Jackson Gentry of San Carlos, CA. Julia Gentry of Vacaville, CA. David and wife Jennifer Gentry of Sterling, VA. Paulett McElwain of Richmond, VA. and Suzanne McElwain of Ridgecrest, CA. 6 great grand children, 7 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
