Obituary

Stephen M. Rilley was born in Roxbury, Mass., in 1952, and died March 6, 2009. He is survived by his mother, Marie Allen of Perris; his friend of over 40 years, Nancy Rogers of Yucca Valley; his five children, Bill Rilley of Yucca Valley, Cary Rilley of Yucca Valley, Mike Rilley of Yucca Valley, Michelle Schram of Yucca Valley and James Rilley of Joshua Tree; as well as his 12 grandchildren and his dog, Rocco. Mr. Rilley was a resident of the Morongo Basin for over 20 years. He was a longtime truck driver as well as a crane operator for Santa Fe Railroad. In the late 1990s, Mr. Rilley decided to go back to school to pursue a higher education, achieving many degrees, awards and accomplishments. His family and friends remember him as a very intelligent man, passing on wisdom, integrity and good values to those he left behind. Surviving many hardships, they say, he was a role model of strength and determination and a symbol to never give up. He will be missed greatly. Private services will be held March 14. For information, call Nancy Rogers at 365-9792 or 364-3895.
