Obituary

Stephen Clark Beatty was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 19, 1942 one of three children born to Elizabeth Bradley and Earl Beatty. When Steve was 9 years old the family moved to Los Altos, California and later to Santa Barbara where he graduated high school. Steve was a welder and worked for Weyerhaeuser and later retired from A.C. Poettgen in Wasco. He was also self-employed as a welder for some time and operated a saw sharpening business in Wasco. He and Carolyn Dixon Kent in Wasco September 18, 1982 and they moved to Chowchilla 10 years ago to be near family. Steve loved to hunt and fish in the Hayfort area of northern California. While in Wasco the family attended the Griffith Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving family members include his wife of 30 years, Carolyn; sons, Bradley Beatty, Jackie Dent and wife Diane and Sheridan Kent and wife Shari; daughter, Elaine and husband David Carroll; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Susan and Peter. A graveside service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will held, Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 2pm at Wasco Memorial Park for Stephen Clark Beatty, age 70 who passed away May 3, 2013 in Fresno after a short battle with leukemia. The service will be officiated by Pastor Bill Lewis of the Griffith Avenue Baptist Church and interment will follow.
