Simona "Mona" Martinez October 28, 1934 – April 26, 2010 Simona Martinez of Shafter passed away Monday April 26, 2010 in Delano at the age of 75. She was born in San Luis, Potosi Mexico to Trinidad (Ruano) and Jose Martinez October 28, 1934. Simona came to the Shafter area in the early seventies to raise her family and provide a good family environment for her children and grandchildren. Simona is survived by her sons, Christopher and Alex Zimmerle, Guadalupe and Cuahutemoc Diaz, Daughters, Morelia and Lilia Diaz and Alma Gonzalez. Brother Gerado Prado and Sister Santiaga Martinez. 33 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Friday April 30th at Peters Funeral Home with interment at the Shafter Cemetery officiated by Pastor Jesse Chavez of the Rivers of Living Waters Church
