Simon Luna was born February 21, 1972 in China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Marcelina (Perez) and Simon Gonzalez Luna. The family moved to Shafter, California when Simon was an infant and he attended Shafter elementary schools and Shafter High School with the Class of 1990. In his younger years he worked in the fields and later for his brother Don at Shafter Transmission and Smog. For the last 19 years he had been disabled. Simon loved dancing and listening to the radio, he loved music. Simon was baptized in Mexico, but received his first communion in Shafter at St. Therese's Church. Simon was preceded in death by his father, Simon Gonzalez Luna, who passed away on May 22, 2009. He is survived by his mother, Marcelina Luna of Shafter; sister, Sonia Luna; brothers, Alfredo, Jesus, Juan and Don; and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members. Holy Rosary will be recited Sunday, February 15 at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter for Simon Luna, Jr., age 42, of Shafter who passed away February 9, 2015 in Shafter. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 16 at St. Therese's Church. Fr. Lucas Azpericueta will officiate the service and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 15 from 2pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
