Obituary

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 22, at 10:00 a.m., at Shafter Memorial Park, followed by a Memorial service at 11:00 a.m., at Valley Bible Church, in Shafter, CA. Max was born on November 6, 1925 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. In 1936 he moved with his family to Shafter, CA. Max attended Richland Elementary and Shafter High School. On April 4, 1944 he was drafted into the U.S. Navy and boarded the USS Fanning DD385 on June 12, 1944 where he served 18 months and was discharged in May of 1946. Max came to know the Lord in 1956. He worked for the Shafter Post Office and retired in November 1980. Max loved and enjoyed his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Nora Pearce; one grandson, Amos Max Wood. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; 2 brothers, Bill Pearce of WA, and Cy Pearce of OR; 2 daughters, Sally Alexander and Beth Wood, both of Bakersfield; 4 grandchildren, Daniel and Michelle Alexander and son, Bradley of Santa Ynez Valley, Andrew Wood and Alex Wood of Bakersfield, Anna Hayek and her husband, Lee of Lemoore, CA. No visitation is scheduled.
