Obituary

Shirley Ann Kropf, an 80-year resident of California who lived in Yucca Valley for 35 years, died March 8, 2009, at home in Yuma, Ariz. Complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease caused her death; she was 85 years old. Born June 16, 1923, in Ontario, she was the daughter of Clyde Slamal and Olivia (Heisey) Slamal. She was married 62 years to her high school sweetheart, Buzz Kropf. He preceded her in death in 2006. She is survived by brother Arthur Slamal of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; daughters and sons-in-law Toni and Roger Hoskins of Yuma, Ariz., and Kim and Paul Toelke of Fresno; grandchildren Kimberly McAllister and husband David of Tucson, Ariz., Elizabeth Miller and husband Dan of Frisco, Texas, Zach Toelke and wife Jen of Bakersfield, Jake Hoskins of Portland, Ore., Rachel Toelke of Fresno; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kropf worked in Dr. Da Silva's office for 10 years before she retired. She was a member of the Lutheran church in Palm Springs and Yucca Valley and attended Desert Rose Senior Fellowship in Yuma, Ariz. Her ashes will be added to her husband's and scattered in the High Sierras by their grandsons Zach and Jake.
