Shirley Mae Green was born November 29, 1936 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma to Elsie (De-Armon) and Preston McMillan. The family moved to Tulare and Shirley completed high school with the class of 1954. She married James Green September 8, 1956 in Las Vegas and they moved to Wasco. Shirley was a bookkeeper and worked for Wasco Agri-Business Center and Pond Heifer Ranch. They moved to Cedar City, Utah in 1978 where Shirley continued her work in bookkeeping. James passed away in 1995 and Shirley moved back to Bakersfield in 2007 to be near her daughter. They enjoyed going to Pismo Beach every chance they could. Shirley was very family oriented and enjoyed being with family and her grandchildren; she loved giving them advice. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Tatum of St. George, Utah, Diana Mills & husband Terry of Bakersfield; Jamie Thorton & husband Mike of Parowan, Utah; grandchildren, James, Jeff, Jennisa and Jassmine Tatum, all of Utah, David Towse of Shafter, Daniel Towse, Dana Guillen and Jaxon Mills all of Bakersfield; Karolena and Kourtney Keene, both of Utah; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Jack McMillan; sister-in-law, Oleta Gomes; and nephew, Joey Gomes. A graveside service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Shafter will be held Wednesday, November 27 in Parowan, Utah for Shirley Mae Green, age 76, of Bakersfield who passed away November 22, 2013 in Bakersfield.
