Seferino Martinez was born April 11, 1941 in Phoenix, Arizona the only child of Nieves (Jimenez) and Seferino Martinez, Sr. Seferino grew up and attended schools in Glendale, Arizona. He began a 20 year career with Glendale Memorial Park as a groundsman and retired as a foreman. The family moved to Ramona, California and Seferino worked in agriculture for several years. He has been a resident of Wasco, California for the last 16 years. Seferino was an avid 49er fan and had collected memorabilia over the years. He loved mariachi music and getting together with his children and grandchildren. Seferino was the best dad in the world and his children could talk to him as a good friend and get great advice. He was also a fighter, battling cancer for the last four years. Seferino was a loving father and will be greatly missed by his family; wife, Rosalinda; sons, Seferino and Tomas, both of San Diego, Leon, Joe and Francisco, all of Wasco; daughters, Martina of Los Angeles, Lisa of San Diego, Rosela Paez of Shafter and Nieves of Wasco; many loving grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, Seferino. He was preceded in death by his parents. Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, May 20, at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home for Seferino Martinez, Jr., age 69, of Wasco who passed away May 16, 2010 at his home in Wasco, surrounded by his family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said Friday, May 21, at 10am at St. John's Church. Fr. John Fluetsch will officiate the service and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
