Obituary

Sara Margaret O'Brien was born in Bakersfield on January 8, 1941 to Daniel and Fannie (Murphy) O'Brien. She was a life-long resident of Bakersfield attending St. Joseph's school and later graduating with the Class of 1959 of Graces High School. Sara married Alan Grossweiler in Las Vegas on April 18, 1964. Sara worked as a secretary for 25 years for various companies including Tempo Services and Prudential Insurance Services. Later she worked as a home health aid for Alternative Care Health Services. Sara loved traveling (especially to the mountains) and wine-tasting and was able to indulge both pleasures in Sonora, California. All animals were special to Sara, and she had many cats and dogs as pets; but her "yorkies" were dear to her. Sara was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and a lifetime member of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. The family would like give a special thank you to her loving caregivers, Joy Smith and Lana Mashburn, and to Hoffman Hospice. Sara was a loving person, great wife and mother and her great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. Sara is survived by her son, Jeffrey Alan Grossweiler and wife Kristen of Mission Viejo; daughter Cherie Linde and husband Keith of Bakersfield; husband, Alan Grossweiler of Bakersfield; twin brother, Michael O'Brien and wife Laurie of Frasier Park; niece, Shannon Berkowitz. Her parents, and infant son, William Francis Grossweiler, June 21, 1970 and father-in-law, Robert Grossweiler all preceded her in death. Sara passed away February 27, 2007 at home at the age of 66 with her family at her side. A visitation will be Friday March 2, 2007, from 2-8 pm, at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 620 Oregon. Graveside services will be Saturday, March 3, 2007, at 11am, at Green lawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd. Please sign Sara's guestbook at www.clarmar.com.
