Visitation is Wednesday, January 5, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter, California. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 6, at 11:00a.m. at Peters Funeral Home with interment at Shafter Memorial Park for Sandy Mathews, 68, who passed peacefully surrounded by her family on December 31, 2010. Sandy was born in Buttonwillow, California to Elby and Aline Patrick on August 4, 1942. She was raised in Shafter, California and attended the School at Rio Bravo and Shafter High. In 1958 she married Raymond Haworth and together they had three children, Lori, Mike, and David Haworth. As she raised her family in Shafter she was active leading Blue Bird groups, Cub Scout Troops, and coaching softball. She was a life time member of the American Legion auxiliary. Always the caregiver, she loved to help others and was someone you could count on to get things done. Her family and friends will miss her fun nature and helping hands. She had a big personality and her home was full of laughter. After her children were grown she moved to Bakersfield and married Dennis Mathews on November 24, 1990. Together they played golf, spent time in their trailer at Pismo Beach, and made many trips to Las Vegas. She loved gardening, cooking and preparing for parties, taking care of and spoiling her grandchildren. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Elby Patrick and Aline Ingledew, brother, Milton (Mike) Patrick, and two nephews, Donald Patrick, and Murphy Patrick, Jr. Sandy will be missed by her devoted and loving husband Dennis Mathews and his son Dennis Mathews, Jr. and wife Ericka and their son's Tyler and Johnathon. Daughter Lori McLemore and her family: husband Ted McLemore, children Megan McCort and husband Mathew McCort, and Scott McLemore and wife Courtney McLemore; Son Mike Haworth and his family: wife Michelle Haworth, children Jeremy Haworth, Andrew Haworth and wife Tami Haworth, children Melani Haworth and Samatha Haworth: Son David Haworth and his family: wife Christy Haworth, children Skye Haworth and Delani Haworth; Brothers: Charles Partick and wife Carol and Murphy Patrick and wife Florence. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, and other treasured family and friends. Pallbearers: Mike Haworth, David Haworth, Andrew Haworth, Jeremy Haworth, Scott McLemore and Matthew McCort. Honorary pallbearers: Dennis Mathews and Ted McLemore.
