Sandra began her final journey home on Thursday August 10, 2017 on her 79th birthday in Fresno Ca, after a long battle of Alzheimers and heart disease. Sandy was born to Carl and Ramona Steele on August 10, 1938 in Bakersfield California along with her twin brother Michael. Sandy was raised in Shafter California and lived there most of her life. Sandy graduated Shafter High 1956. In 1957 Sandy married the love of her life Bruce Epp, they were married 50 years when Bruce passed away August 1, 2008. Sandra worked for Stringhams Drug Store while she was in high school and continued to work at the drug store part time till 1965. In 1963 Sandra and Bruce bought their first home on State Street in Shafter there they raised their 2 daughters and started a lifelong friendship with many wonderful people. Sandy's dearest friend to this day is Pat White. When Pat and Carlos white decided to start insect lore, Carlos asked Sandy to come to learn to be his lab assistant and help raise butterflies. Sandra loved her job, along with teaching people about the butterflies, but most of all Sandra could work every day with her best friends. Sandra was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sandra was proceeded in death by her husband Bruce Epp on August 1, 2008, who she missed deeply every day, Her Twin Brother Michael Steele on February 2, 2004, Her mother Ramona Steele on January 17, 1972, Father Carl Steele on June 6, 1992 She is survived by her two daughters Kimberly Speer (Christopher) of Bakersfield Ca, Tracy Umfress (Doug) of Clovis, Ca, 8 grandchildren, and her 10 great grandchildren; sister- n- law, Gayle Steele, Uncle Dudley Steele and brother Steven Steele. Sandra also leaves behind her best friend for over 50 years Pat White who together they made so many memories for their families. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10am at Shafter Memorial Park.
