IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Darlene
Atkinson Smith
September 4, 1950 – August 4, 2022
Sandra Darlene Smith, age 71, loving mother of two, and widow to the late Rev. David Smith, passed away in her sleep August 4th, 2022. Sandra was born in Bakersfield, CA to Tom and Christine Atkinson on Sept. 4th, 1950, and grew up in Wasco CA. After graduating high school she attended Pasadena College where she met her husband David Smith. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree she and her husband began life in ministry. Sandra had many roles in life, among the important were pastor's wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and teacher. She was a teacher at heart, and although retired, she still gave many lessons as a Sunday School teacher and speaker at church functions. One of her "things" was acronyms. Her favorite acronym was F.R.O.G. which stands for Fully Rely On God. She loved frogs, collected figurines, pictures, and most anything to do with frogs. Although Sandra had many titles throughout life, the one that shined brightest was being a Christian. She had a devout love for God and everywhere she went His love was shared to whoever she encountered. Sandra is survived by her two sons, Shane Smith, and Andrew Smith; her brother, Randy (Helen) Atkinson, and grandson Wyatt Smith. Sandra is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Christine Atkinson, and her husband David Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bakersfield First Church of the Nazarene Celebrate Recovery ministry in Sandra Smith's name.
