A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, November 18, at 10am at South Kern Cemetery District, Arvin for Salome Avena Viera, age 62, of Lamont who passed away November 10 in Bakersfield. Fr. John Schmoll of St. Augustine's Church will officiate and interment will follow. A visitation will be held Friday, November 17 from 1pm to 9pm and Saturday, November 18 from 8:30am to 9:30 at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 8601 Hall Road, Lamont. He has been a resident of Lamont for 40 years working in agriculture. He is survived by his brothers, Gonzalo and Miguel; sisters, Cirila, Agustina, Maria Librada, Margarita and Juana Avena Viera, all of Mexico; nephews, Miguel, Manuel, Gilberto, Tomas, Luis; nieces, Nerisa, Rosaria, Amy, Annette, Belinda and Wendy; and best friends, Susano Parra and Aidee Santa Cruz.
