Obituary

Sally Lugo

10/27/1940- 10/5/2024

Sally was born in Bakersfield California, raised in Bakersfield and then moved to Shafter when she was a young girl. She lived in the Colonia with her parents and 7 siblings where she met many childhood friends and made many memories. Sally met Frank Lugo from Wasco, and they fell in love. He became the love of her life as she was also his, and they were married in 1957. They made Wasco their home where they would raise their 3 children. Sally worked for the Wasco schools as a nurse clerk for 42 years. She loved helping the students and met some very good friends along the way.

She was a fun- loving energetic (but sometimes a feisty) woman with many friends in the community. She touched many hearts with her personality and character. Sally had a gentleness about her that was warm and inviting. She loved to give gifts and make dishes for work, potlucks and family gatherings. She enjoyed baking for family and friends, and she enjoyed decorating her house for the holidays. Sally loved being a grandma to all her grandchildren and spoiling them at times. She enjoyed having her family over for swimming and barbeques and she always had the best snacks, cold sodas and her favorite, ice-cream.

She enjoyed going to the casino every chance she could get. Her and Frank were always out traveling, exploring new places and just enjoying life together. They were married 57 beautiful years until his passing in 2014.She would continue her life with a broken heart but had her children and family by her side.

She then grew a close bond and would cling to her granddaughter Joanne for the past 10 years. She still enjoyed going to the casino, traveling to the beach and as she would say, "Do what we do best- Eat". She always knew doctor appointment days would turn into eating and shopping. She looked forward to those days and just getting out of the house. Sally struggled without her other half and slowly developed Dementia. She would slowly decline, and life got even harder for her these past few years. She spent her last year in a rehabilitation center where she would eventually pass and take her last breath.

Sally is preceded in death by her sister Irene Perales, brothers Tony and Rudy Arreola and her husband Frank Lugo Sr.

She is survived by her sister Mary and husband Rudy Lopez, sister Rosie Aguilar, daughter Carmen and husband Joseph Ramos, son Frank Lugo Jr and wife Sharon, son Michael Lugo, 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild and many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
