Sabina Rios Rodriguez was born February 9, 1920 in Abilene, Texas to Victor and Manuela (Rios) Rosales. The family moved to Shafter in 1943 and Sabina met and married Joe Rodriquez on December 17, 1950. Sabina served her family as a homemaker. She had a talent for sewing and keeping a clean house. She was also an excellent cook and the family favorites were her handmade tortillas and rice and beans. She loved her family and kept watch over them "keeping them in line". Her care and compassion included caring for ailing family members including her husband, daughter and son to whom she was devoted. She faithfully attended St. Therese's Church where she prayed the Rosary and lit candles. Sabina had a strong relationship with her God. Sabina's passing is a big loss to her family members, including her husband of 56 years, Joe Rodriguez; sons, Joe Rodriguez, Jr., Carlos Rodriguez & wife Lorraine, and Frank Rodriguez & wife Beatrice, all of Shafter; daughters, Annie Rodriguez of Shafter and Phyllis Lopez & husband Mike of Bakersfield; sister-in-law, Maxine Rosales of Shafter; grandchildren; Ahida, Denise, Michelle, Joseph, Teresa, Frank Jr., Jacob Lopez and Lee Michael Lopez; great grandchildren, Mariah, Marissa, Samuel, Haley, Alysa, Alex, Abigail, Jordan, Darian and Zyler; and many other loving family members. She is preceded in death by 2 great grandchildren, Christopher and Joshua, 6 brothers, Pete, Mike, Floyd, Tony, Paul, Carlos; and 1 sister, Susie. Recitation of the Holy Rosary was held Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at 7:00 PM, at St. Francis Church, in Bakersfield. Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, June 7, 2007, 10:00 AM, at St. Francis Church. Interment followed at Shafter Memorial Park. A visitation was held on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, from noon until 5:00 PM, at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter.
