A graveside funeral service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Wasco was held Wed., Nov. 1 at 11am at Wasco Memorial Park for Ruth Marie Woolley, age 88, who passed away Oct. 27 in Shafter. Pastor Scott Allred of the Wasco United Methodist Church officiate and interment follow. Mrs. Woolley was born June 19, 1918 in Abilene, Kansas to Benjamin and Marie Steinberg. The family moved to Wasco when she was an infant and she attended Wasco Elementary Schools and graduated from Wasco High School with the Class of 1936. She married Herbert Woolley May 20, 1939 and they celebrated 52 years of marriage when he passed away in 1991. Mrs. Woolley worked for Dr. Max & Mary Hendricks until she joined her husband in their crop-dusting business. She took care of the books and even worked as a flagger when needed. She and Herb enjoyed many years of travel together, sometimes in their private Cessna 182, their Red Harley Davidson or their motor home. They were members of the AOPA and Motorcycle Club of Bakersfield. Survivors include her son, Robert Ashby Woolley of Fox Island, Washington; Bette Williams of Rolling Hills Estates; sister, Esther M. Steinberg of Wasco; 4 grandchildren; Daryl Williams & wife Stacey, Sara Woolley, Kevin Woolley & fiancé Becky and Taryn Woolley; and daughter-in-law, Nanci Woolley. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Herb, parents, sister, Rachel Scaggs and brothers, Maynard, Vincent and Pat.
