Ruth passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on July 5, 2013, at Evergreen Bakersfield from complications of Alzheimer's dementia. Born Ruth Mary Sharrock on January 12, 1920 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Ruth married Roy W. (Bill) Ridgway in 1940 in Grants, New Mexico. They met while working at the Harvey House where Ruth was a waitress and Bill was a truck driver. Following Bill's retirement, Ruth and Bill loved spending time fishing and camping at Campfish River in Arizona. Rut was a devoted homemaker and mother. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and "the girls" from the mobile home park where she and Bill lived for over 40 years. Ruth cherished her good friends and neighbors Pauline Parker and Doris Hargis. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 1985, and son-in-law Roger Colbert in 2009. Survivors include daughters Sandra Colbert of Bakersfield, Charlotte Pearson of Florida, son Larry Ridgeway of Florida, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Bakersfield and Dr. Todd Farrer for their kindness and compassionate care. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Wednesday July 10, 2013 at the Wasco Memorial Park and a viewing will be on Tuesday July 9, 2013 from 2-8pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter.
