IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth 'Cuca'
Bravo
July 4, 1933 – July 25, 2011
Ruth "Cuca" Bravo was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on July 4, 1933, to Mary (Sanchez) and Lee Barraza. She came to Kern County at the age of 10, she met and married Carlos Bravo Sr., together they had 4 children; Ruth stayed home and nurtured her children and provided a loving and warm home for her family. Some of her favorite pastimes included embroidery, reading and eating her "famous sausages". Throughout the years she had become the mentor of the family, giving advice to nieces and nephews; even friends of the family would come for advice. Everyone knew Ruth as "Mom"; all who knew, loved and valued her advice will miss her. Ruth Bravo is preceded in death by her husband Carlos Bravo Sr. (1970), son Carlos Jr. (1986) and her eight siblings. Her companion of 40 years, Romolo Estrada; sons Felipe Vega of Fresno and Robert Vega of Bakersfield; daughter Guadalupe Urquidi of Bakersfield; 9 grandchildren and many loving great grandchildren survive her. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Wednesday, August 3 at 10am with interment immediately following at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held for Ruth "Cuca" Bravo, age 78, of Bakersfield on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary from 3 to 8pm with the Holy Rosary recited at 6 pm.
