Ruth Bertholf passed away peacefully on June 5, 2007 at Arvin Evergreen Nursing Home with her family by her side. Ruth was born on Feb. 28, 1914 in Stidham, Oklahoma to Walter and Cherry Bell Pitman. She was one of eight children. Ruth graduated from Stidham High School and left for California in 1936. Ruth worked for the county of Kern for 24 years. She first worked with the Welfare Department and later for the 2nd District Supervisors, John Halt and David Head, until she retired. Ruth's passion was serving the Lord and spending time with her great grandchildren. She loved to knit, crochet and do puzzles. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Millard Hallum; three grandsons, Steve and wife Saban, David and wife Gracie, Terry and wife Tracine; great grandchildren Erica, Cassie, Ariana, Jake, Alex, Juliann, Garrison and Jensen Hallum. The family would like to thank Evergreen Arvin and Hoffman Hospice for their loving care. In Lieu of Flowers please make donations to Hoffman Hospice. A funeral service was held Friday, June 8, at 10am at Arvin Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Miginty officiated the service and interment followed at South Kern Cemetery District.
