Russell was born in Bakersfield, California, raised in Shafter. He graduated Shafter High Class of 1974 and went on to study electronics in Los Angeles, graduating in 1976. He returned to work in the family businesses (Empire TV and Coast to Coast Hardware) for 12 years. Russell was the Vice President of Floyd's Stores until his retirement in 2014. After which, he acquired 2 more businesses. Russell married the love of his life Sonia in 1992. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite team the San Francisco Giants. Russell loved to laugh, cook and spend time at the beach with his family. He passed away peacefully on August 10, 2016 with his family by his side. He will be dearly missed and the memory of his spirit will be cherished by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by parents Vernon and Ruth Searcy. He is survived by wife, Sonia; children Alison, Paul, T.J., Jill and Jason; and grandchildren; brother's family Randy, Loretta and Vince. Viewing will be held at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter August 16, 2016 from 5-8pm. Graveside services will be August 17, 2016 at 10am, at Shafter Memorial Park.
