Obituary

Rudolph C. Palomo was born in Juarez, Mexico to Fructuoso Palomo and Carmen Castro. Rudolph was raised in Shafter, where he attended school and played on the Shafter Eagles baseball team. After graduating from Shafter High School, he married Micaela Prendez and together they raised 6 children. Rudolph enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served his country proudly during WWII in the Central Pacific. Throughout his life, he was a hard-working man; Rudolph built a successful labor contracting business as well as one of Shafter's first trucking companies. In his free time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman; his favorite trips included Alaska and Costa Rica. Rudolph entered eternal rest on March 1, 2016, at the age of 94, surrounded by family. He is survived by sons Rudy (Rosemary) Palomo and Mark (Anna) Palomo, daughters Vivian (Matthew) Sanchez, Elizabeth (Frank) Meraz, Linda Serda, and Theresa (Joe) Avila, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Micaela Palomo, late wife, Clara Palomo, and son-in-law, Andrew Serda. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 3-7 pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter, California.
