Ruby Lee Payne was born September 2, 1927 in Rudy, Arkansas and was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; on January 30, 2017. She was surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years James M. Payne Sr., her parents George and Eva Gilbert, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, and a great granddaughter, Ariel, along with a special sister in law, Betty Payne. She is survived by her children, Jimmy (Trina) Payne, Connie (Mark) Holtschulte, Linda (Gerald) Gaskin, Mike Payne, and Sheri (Steve) Eppley. She is survived by her brother in law, Sonny (Carol) Payne, a sister in law, Anne Payne, and a special sister in law and friend, Dawnynce McCoy. Ruby also has 15 grandchildren and their spouses, 31 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She had 3 special nieces, Sandee George, Karen Robinett and Teresa Massey along with numerous other nieces and nephews. . Mom had two special friends Eldalene Peters and April Sampeer who visited her often. She spent her last year- and –a- half at Arcadia Home Care 2, and we want to give a special thanks to their staff and to GiGi, that our mom loved dearly. We are grateful for their dedication and compassionate care. We also want to give a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice for their tender care of mom. Viewing will be at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday Feb. 2nd, 4pm to 8pm. and Friday Feb. 3rd, 2pm to 8pm at 844 East Lerdo Hwy., Shafter, CA. Graveside service will be Feb. 4th, 2017, at 11am at Shafter Cemetery, 18662 Santa Fe Way, Shafter, CA. Following graveside service there will be food and fellowship at Family Community Fellowship Church at 10700 Brimhall Road, Bakersfield, CA.
