Ruby Fowler was born January 15, 1914 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Beulah (Scantlen) and Dee Bryant. She attended Cass School near Stigler. Ruby married Clifford Fowler November 5, 1932 and they were blessed to celebrate 80 years of marriage. They moved to Shafter in 1944 and Ruby served her family as a homemaker. Ruby was a member of the Shafter Church of the Nazarene. Surviving family include Ruby's husband, Clifford of Shafter; daughters, Toni Spencer and husband Max of Shafter and Shirley Couch and husband Robert of Bakersfield; 1 sister, Vivian Speir of Bakersfield; 4 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Frieda Joyce Fowler Brown in 1955; and her parents. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 6, at 11am at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter for Ruby Fowler, age 99, who passed away peacefully at her home on March 2, 2013, surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 5 from 4pm to 8pm.
