A service will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 9 at Riverside National Cemetery for Roy Thomas Weeks, a 21-year Yucca Valley resident who died Jan. 2, 2009, at Odyssey House. He was 85 years old. Born June 16, 1923, in Los Angeles, he was the son of Simpson B. Weeks and Angelina Salazar Weeks. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arline M. Weeks of Yucca Valley, daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Jerry Mason of Yucca Valley, Donna and Gary Newland of San Pedro and Diane and Bob Engbarth of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., son and daughter-in-law Wesley and Robin Weeks of Haiku, Hawaii, brother and sister-in-law Kenneth and Geraldine Weeks of Yucca Valley, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, four brothers and five sisters. Mr. Weeks was a veteran of the United States Army who served in World War II. He was a maintenance engineer for 61 years before retiring, working for C.B. Van Vorst/Hollander.
