IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy O'Neal
Reed
April 14, 1943 – July 3, 2010
Roy O'neil Reed, 67, of Bakersfield, CA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 3, 2010, following a courageous battle with a terminal lung disease. He passed away peacefully in his home with his faithful wife of 47 years by his side. Roy was born into a Christian family on April 14, 1943 to loving parents, Jesse and Lillian Reed. He married his beautiful wife on October 20, 1962. Roy was a devout Christian, and his faith was strong and unwavering. He was a devoted member of Elder Hoss' church, The Apostolic Assembly of Rosedale, since 1967. His church family brought him joy and great peace during his final days here on earth. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Lillian Reed, a brother Jack Reed, and infant daughter, Donna Louise Reed. Roy was a truck driver for more than thirty years and was highly respected in the industry. He drove tankers for many years and spent the last eight years of his career with Wal-Mart. He loved being a truck driver and often said that "trucking was in his blood." He had a great work ethic and was very proud of his unblemished driving record. He was a true man of character and provided an exceptional example of how to treat your fellow man. Dad has influenced each and every one of his children and grandchildren's lives. Words cannot express the amount of love and respect we all have for him. He will be greatly missed. Our lives will never be the same without him. Roy leaves behind his beloved wife Patricia, a brother Andy Reed and wife Montana of North Dakota, his sister Patsy and husband Pat of Arizona, his sons Jim Reed and wife Donna of Bakersfield, Paul Reed and wife Kimberly of Bakersfield, Chris Posey and girlfriend Ashley Wheeler of Bakersfield. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Stephanie Reed, US Army Spc. Talon Reed and wife Miranda, Alyssa Reed, Madilyn Carroll, and Abigail Posey. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Peter's Funeral Home, 844 E Lerdo Hwy. Shafter, CA, from 2pm – 8pm. Funeral Services are at 10am on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Apostolic Assembly of Rosedale, 2701 Mosasco St. Bakersfield, CA 93312. Roy's pastor, Elder Hoss, will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. The Reed family would like to offer a special thanks to Hoffman Hospice for providing great care and compassion, and for preserving Dad's dignity at such a difficult time.
