Roy Fowler was born July 7, 1916 in Clonsilla, Oklahoma to Jim and Mary Jessie (Hart) Fowler. When he was 18 years old his family moved to California and Roy worked in agriculture thought-out the San Joaquin Valley. He served his country in the Navy as a Seaman First Class during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. Ray and Eulalah were married July 25, 1948 in Freedom, California and moved to Shafter in 1951. Roy worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, a trade he learned in the Navy, and had worked for E M and H Mettler and Sons until his retirement. Roy loved to fish in the area canals and Lake Isabella and also went deep sea fishing in Morro Bay. Roy was preceded in death by his wife Eulalah May who passed away March 9, 1996; son, Baby Paul; his parents; brother, Johnny; and sisters, Ellen and Jewel. Roy is survived by his daughter, Gloria Jean Rose and husband Forrest of Shafter; grandson, Daniel Lindsay; brothers, Calvin Fowler and wife Pat and Ray Fowler and wife Syble, all of Tennessee. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 25 at 9am at Peters Funeral Home for Roy Fowler, age 91, of Shafter who passed away June 20, 2008 in Shafter. Pastor L.V. Lawson, retired pastor of Seventh Standard Church of God will officiate and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
