Roy J. Burke was born in Canada to Verna and Joseph Burke. Roy served the US Navy for 2 years During World War II and was honorably discharged in southern California where he settled. He enjoyed a 35 year career with Chrysler working on the manufactures lines. Roy and Verna Tankersley met in Hunting Park and married in 1953. Roy enjoyed bowling and ocean fishing. Roy and Verna moved to Wasco in 2000 to be near family. Roy and Verna were married 54 years when she passed away January 2, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jo Anderson October 29, 2009. He is survived by his sons, Marion Tankersley and wife Mary Nell of Texas, Ronald Tankersley and wife Kathy of Florida, Jack Tankersley and wife Jane of San Jose and Steven Burke and wife Diane of San Diego; daughter, Phyllis Wilkinson of Wasco and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. In accordance to his wishes there were no services for Roy Joseph Burke, age 91, who passed away in Bakersfield on November 11, 2009.
